6 Reasons This Dual-Knee Brace Is Getting Dogs Back to Their Daily Walks

Is your dog limping on a back leg? Touching a paw down, then lifting it back up? Skipping the jump onto the bed, or falling behind on walks? You're not alone. Here's why owners of almost 8,000 dogs chose this brace.

It holds up the knee that's actually giving out

Most back-leg limping starts in the knee.1 A main ligament inside it (like the ACL in people) keeps the knee steady. When that ligament weakens or tears, the knee wobbles with every step.

This brace wraps each knee and holds it steady while your dog walks.

A dog seen from behind. The sore back knee is circled, and the other back leg glows orange because it is working extra hard to carry the weight.

It supports both knees, because the good one is doing double duty

When one knee hurts, your dog leans on the other back leg.2 Of dogs that tear that main ligament, about 1 in 3 later hurt the other one too.3

That's why this is one brace for both back legs, joined by one harness. You never buy two.

It stays where you put it

The biggest complaint about dog knee braces? They slide down in minutes.

On this one, each knee wrap clips to a harness on your dog's back, and a rear strap holds both wraps high on the thigh.

It costs a fraction of what surgery can

If your vet brought up surgery, you've seen the price. Lots of owners use this brace while they talk options over with their vet: for a dog too old for surgery, or when the cost just isn't doable right now.

Your vet should help you decide. The brace supports that knee in the meantime.

"We have seen two orthopedic surgeons who suggested surgery with an intensive recovery. He is a 95 pound shepherd and our concerns were many with his size. We opted to try these and couldn't be happier."

Surgery costs are published U.S. estimates and vary by region, clinic and dog size. This brace is a support tool, not a replacement for surgery or your vet's advice.

Questions owners ask us most

Will it slide down my dog's leg?

That's the problem with sleeve-only braces. This one clips to a harness, and the rear strap holds both wraps high on the thigh. Measuring all six numbers first is the best way to get a snug fit.

My dog has one bad knee. Why support both?

When one knee is weak, the other back leg carries extra weight. Supporting both keeps the load more even. And it's one brace for both legs, so you never buy two.

How do I pick the right size?

Start with your dog's weight for a quick estimate, then check your breed to see the size most owners of that breed chose. For the most exact fit, measure all six spots on the size chart. Back leg girth and back leg length matter most. If your dog lands between sizes, go custom.

My vet mentioned surgery. Can my dog still wear it?

Ask your vet first. Many owners use the brace while they weigh their options. Some use it alongside the plan their vet recommends. Your vet knows your dog's knee best.

What if it doesn't fit?

The 60-Day Perfect Fit Guarantee covers an exchange for another size, or store credit. Braces are not refundable, and you pay to ship the brace back to us. That's why we ask you to measure everything first.

Is it right for every dog?

It's made for dogs that can stand and walk on their back legs. Very short-legged breeds (like Corgis, Dachshunds, Bassets and Bulldogs) need a different fit, so message us first. If your dog can't put any weight on a leg, has an open wound, or is suddenly in bad shape, see your vet first.

1. Della Valle G, et al. Outcome after Modified Maquet Procedure in dogs with unilateral cranial cruciate ligament rupture. PLoS One. 2021;16(8):e0256011. Describes cruciate ligament rupture as one of the most common causes of back-leg limping in dogs.

2. Souza ANA, Tatarunas AC, Matera JM. Evaluation of vertical forces in the pads of Pitbulls with cranial cruciate ligament rupture. BMC Vet Res. 2014;10:51. In dogs with one torn ligament, the injured back leg pushed down with about 24% of body weight, while the other back leg pushed down with about 39%, more than the 33–34% measured in healthy dogs.

3. Harasen G. Canine cranial cruciate ligament rupture in profile. Can Vet J. 2003;44(10):845–846. In two groups of dogs treated for a torn cruciate ligament, 27–30% later tore the other one, and the author advises owners to expect a 1 in 3 chance. See also: Chuang C, et al. Radiographic risk factors for contralateral rupture in dogs with unilateral cranial cruciate ligament rupture. PLoS One. 2014;9(9):e106389, where 33% of 85 dogs went on to tear the other ligament.
