QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Everything You Need to Know

Can this replace surgery entirely?

For many dogs, yes — but not all. The Wag Wize brace is designed as a non-surgical management tool for CCL and ACL injuries, and thousands of dogs have recovered fully without surgery while wearing it. However, we always recommend consulting your veterinarian, particularly for complete ruptures or dogs with significant joint instability.

Will my dog actually wear this?

95% of dogs accept the Wag Wize brace within 2–3 days. The soft neoprene construction eliminates the rigid discomfort that causes rejection with hard-shell braces. Most dogs begin ignoring it's there by day 3–5. We recommend short 20-minute wear sessions on day one, building to full-day wear by the end of the first week.

What if it doesn't fit?

That's exactly what our 60-Day Perfect Fit Guarantee is for. Email us a photo of the brace on your dog and we'll assess the fit and exchange for the correct size. If your dog falls outside of our size range, you may return the knee brace for store credit to apply towards a custom made brace (~$300-$400) or for any other product on our site.

We've helped thousands of customers dial in the right fit — it's one of the things we're best at.

How long until I see results?

Most owners notice reduced limping and improved weight-bearing within 7–14 days. By weeks 3–4 many dogs resume normal walking and light activity. Significant mobility improvement is typically visible by 6–8 weeks of consistent daily wear. Results vary depending on injury severity, dog age, and how consistently the brace is worn.

How do I clean the brace?

Hand wash with mild soap and lukewarm water. Remove the hinges before washing. Air dry only — do not machine wash or tumble dry as this can degrade the neoprene and velcro. Most owners clean the brace every 1–2 weeks during active use.
